Home Products Fair concludes well attended 2nd edition

The second edition of China Sourcing Fair: Home Products in India welcomed thousands of buyers in the subcontinent and nearby markets at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai on November 23 to 25, 2011.

Keen on differentiating their home product line with new designs from China, visitors checked out the latest in kitchenware & tableware, bakeware & cookware, wine & bar accessories, glassware, ceramics & porcelain, household products, pet care products, storage, laundry & cleaning, bathroom accessories, personal care products, home décor, home textiles, outdoor furniture & decorations, sports & leisure and sports bags & travel goods.

The China Sourcing Fair continues to attract buyers looking to profit from China's low-cost sourcing advantage. The mainland is among today's preferred LCCs (Low-cost Sourcing Country) with emerging manufacturers behind leading international brands. As India's biggest trade partner, China's exports to India reportedly rose 10.7% in 2009 to 2010 from 7.3% in the previous years, which shows India's growing demand for China-made products. The mainland's strong export growth demonstrates improved manufacturing quality as more suppliers gain ISO accreditation and other international certifications on top of price competitiveness.

More Indian importers are turning to Chinese suppliers for low-cost sourcing and anti-inflation measures, according to a study commissioned by leading trade show organizer Global Sources this year. Respondents were composed of thousands of volume importers and purchasing managers.

"To combat inflation, India's purchasing managers are sourcing products more frequently. They are stocking fewer inventories in their warehouses and on their retail shelves," said Global Sources Developing Markets General Manager Bill Janeri.

"As India's economy continues to expand, Indian consumers have more disposable income to spend. And retail distribution channels in India are better able to supply this demand than ever before, with a wide selection of quality, affordable products," he added.

More than 96% of the respondents said they are stepping up procurement activities, and around 90% expressed satisfaction over China's comprehensive product variety at attractive price points.
