Industry experts share consumer electronic trends at CEO Forum

The China Sourcing Fair: Electronics & Components took its quality sourcing platform a notch higher, gathering industry professionals in a seminar dubbed “CEO Forum” at AsiaWorld-Expo. Global Sources partnered with non-profit and non-political trade association the Hong Kong Information Technology Federation and Consumer Electronic Alliances to provide company executives innovative insights to keep pace with new technologies.

The forum, held on the first day of the show’s four-day run, presented the latest technological trends, business development strategies and opportunities in next-generation consumer electronics. Officiating the opening ceremony was Global Sources CEO Spenser Au. Making up the impressive lineup of speakers were Samsung Electronics Hong Kong COO Alex Chung, who lectured on the future of smart devices, eMedia Asia Ltd. Principal Analyst Alice Sun, who discussed the hottest 2012 electronics trends, and GfK Retail & Technology Hong Kong Ltd. General Manager Walter Leung, who spoke on the global outlook for consumer electronics.

"Consumer electronics have become an integral part of our daily lives," said Spenser Au. "Industry statistics predict global spending on consumer technology devices will hit US$1 trillion in 2012. To stay ahead of the competition and profit from the opportunities that lie ahead, suppliers must keep up with the latest market trends and technologies. Developing innovative products is the best way to stand out in a cluttered consumer marketplace,” he added.

The session was followed by a panel discussion, which also saw the participation of Hong Kong Information Technology Federation President Francis Fong, Consumer Electronics Association USA representative George Stepancich and PCCW Director of product development and management Dr. Allen Wong.
