GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK 2009 to welcome top consumer electronics companies

Leading companies in the consumer electronics industries have vowed to take part in this year's GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre in the UAE's business capital of Dubai. The Middle East's largest ICT event on October 18 to 22, 2009 will have Taiwanese computer company Genius, US car maker Ford, Japanese multinational corporation Panasonic, Chinese electronics company Promate, Japanese electronics company Sanyo and US hard drive manufacturer Seagate, among others.
Show organizer Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) highlighted the growing demand for electronics in the Middle East. "Consumer sentiment across the region remains strong, especially in the UAE, where tech-savvy consumers are some of the biggest spenders of electronics products in the world,” DWTC's CEO Helal Saeed Almarri said. “Globally, companies are looking for new and innovative ways to raise consumer confidence," he added.

A total of 3,361 companies from 83 countries exhibited in last year's event. Buyers totaled 129,844, a 5% jump from the previous year. Moreover, visitor turnout went up by 15% from 2007.
