This year's Taipei International Electronics Show (TAITRONICS) is expected to showcase more environment-friendly products at the Taipei World Trade Center Nangang Exhibition Hall, Taipei, Taiwan on October 8 to 11, 2009. Taiwan's annual electronics trade event, now on its 35th edition, will display more energy-efficient bulbs in its LED & Lighting exhibit area. Green technology will also be the focus of most seminars at the exhibit. Show organizer Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) said that the move to expand its display of energy-saving products is aimed at utilizing "present advantages." The current downturn in the global business environment, especially in American and European markets, calls for capitalizing on present opportunities for the Taiwanese industry, TAITRA stressed. Moreover, the council believes that last year's signing of the historic direct China-Taiwan flights agreement makes the show more accessible to visitors from the mainland. Hence, they will encourage more buyers from the region to visit the event. TAITRA also plans to finance buyers from emerging markets as part of a trade development project under Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs. TAITRONICS 2008 attracted 60% more exhibitors compared to its previous year's show, with over 1,000 international suppliers represented in more than 2,300 booths. Exhibitors who attended the 2008 show were Media Tek, Macronix, Teco, Chroma ATE, Winbond, Epson and more. Local and international visitors also reached almost 70,000. International buyers included AT&T, Vodafone, and Lenovo Mobile. TAITRONICS 2009 will be co-located with the 3rd Taiwan RFID Applications Show.
