More than 1,300 companies participated in the 2007 Hong Kong International Lighting Fair, making it the largest event of its kind in Asia and the second largest worldwide. The exhibitors represented 31 countries, including the US, Italy, South Korea, Spain, the UK, Austria and the Netherlands. On its 9th year, the show featured seven theme zones. Two of these are new, namely the Crystal Indulgence and the Galaxy of Stars. The other special pavilions are Green Lighting, Holiday Favours, Parts & Accessories, World of Table Lamps and Outdoor Lighting.
Organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the four-day show attracted 27,899 visitors. Of these, more than 60 percent were from overseas, primarily from Asia and Europe.
A number of on-site events provided buyers and suppliers alike with information regarding key issues and trends affecting the lighting industry. Among these were the seminars Future Trends: Linear Compact Fluorescent Lamps Dimming, Re-examination on Energy Savings and Environmental Issues in Lighting Applications and Innovative Lighting Applications-Now and in the Future.
Global Sources was at the show with its own booth to promote the company's total sourcing solution consisting of print, online and face-to-face channels.
The lighting fair ran concurrently with the Hong Kong International Hardware & Home Improvement Fair at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The 2008 edition will be held from October 27 to 30 in the same venue.
