The first two days of the biannual auto show will be dedicated for the media only. April 22 and 23 are reserved for trade buyers while April 24-28 will be open to the general public.

Auto Shanghai 2009 will utilize all 11 indoor exhibition halls and temporary outdoor halls of the venue, with a total exhibition space of 170,000 sqm. Among all the halls, eight are for automobile manufacturers (Halls W1-W5, E1-E3).

Halls E4-E6 covering 35,000 sqm in addition to 12,000 sqm of temporary outdoor halls will be filled with auto components. The commercial vehicles hall, along with special sections for auto tires and auto audio devices are located at the outdoor site.

The special theme for 2009 is "Art of Innovation" encouraging exhibitors to showcase their latest design and technology, particularly in the areas of new energy, hybrid power, energy saving and emission reduction.

The previous show in 2007 featured over 1,300 exhibitors from 21 countries and regions. More than 500,000 visitors from 108 countries and regions attended, along with 6,286 reporters from across the globe.
